Casement Windows - Installation, Replacement & Repair

A casement window is hung with side hinges, usually with a single pane.  Cranking hardware is attached to swing the casement window open to provide ventilation.  With proper installation, a closed casement window should be airtight.  A casement window may be a good option for places where space is minimal, but light and ventilation are desired.  Casement windows can be installed at all heights, to maintain security while allowing in light and fresh air from outside.

Casement windows are also a great idea for areas that might not currently have a window, but natural lighting is needed. For instance, the installation of a narrow casement window between the studs of a non-load-bearing wall can introduce light to even the darkest corners. When mounted in galley-style kitchens or narrow bathrooms, casement windows provide an attractive means of ventilation. Casement windows are also highly recommended to maintain the security of your home.  They do not typically open wide enough to allow a person to crawl through, and often come narrow enough that even if the entire casement window was removed, the wall opening is still too small for access.
